10 End-of-Year Reflection Prompts to Help You Reset and Refocus Heading Into Your Next Season
Every December, I go back to my Year Compass workbook and carve out quiet time to process the year through end-of-year reflection promptsโwhat strengthened me, what stretched me, and what I want to invite into my next season. The truth is: most of us forget the beautiful, messy, transformative things that happened over the course of a year unless we intentionally stop and look back.

Reflection isnโt about perfection; itโs about pattern-spotting, gratitude, and honest clarity.
And clarity is the foundation of growth.
Whether youโre sitting with your journal, your planner, or simply your thoughts, these 10 end-of-year reflection prompts will help you close the year grounded and step into the next one with purpose.
End-of-Year Reflection Prompts
01 โ What am I most proud of from this year?
Big wins, tiny wins, survived-it wins โ they all count. Write them down.
02 โ What challenged me the most, and what did it teach me?
Growth hides inside discomfort. Capture the lesson. This question reminds me of the shifts I wrote about in “Mindset Shifts That Changed How I Show Up in Busy Seasons.”
03 โ What surprised me about myself this year?
Strength? Softness? Boundaries? A new joy? Let yourself acknowledge the evolution.
04 โ What moments brought me genuine peace?
Look for patterns โ your peace is a compass pointing you toward alignment.
05 โ What drained my energy, and how can I reduce it next year?
This is your permission to release what no longer fits.
06 โ Who poured into me this year, and how did I pour into others?
Reflect on relationships that nurtured you and the ways you showed up for others.
07 โ What habits supported meโand which ones sabotaged me?
Small systems either protect your peace or chip away at it. Name them.
08 โ What did I avoid, delay, or talk myself out of? Why?
Your hesitations tell a story. Understanding them helps you rewrite it.
09 โ What do I want to feel more of next year?
Joy, ease, love, discipline, abundanceโthis sets the tone for your intention setting.
10 โ What is one bold truth Iโm ready to admit to myself?
Every new season begins with honesty.
